Trekkers in the Sahara
The Sahara is a medium that requires special equipment adapted to specific environmental and climatic conditions.
Here are what to take a trek in the Sahara desert.
The feet, the pleasure of walking
For the Sahara, hiking shoes to stem high are banned: too heavy and too hot for the desert climate.
Prefer to a pair of shoes or low cut shoes.
The low cut shoes: They have the advantage of being lightweight and have a good grip of the sole. Goretex membrane “waterproof-breathable” keep your feet dry.
Sandals: Other possibilities, more airy: the sandals. They are increasingly equipped with Vibram soles, which ensure their grip and cushioning.
Be careful not to buy sandals closed walk on the front foot. Sandals need large openings on the front and rear foot to allow the sand to travel under the plantar arch. If this is not the case, you’ll quickly find yourself with a thick layer of sand under foot, not very pleasant!
Take shoes that are already doing to your feet.
Textiles
You think you need to equip both against cold and heat. If the days are generally pleasant and warm with the seasons, the evenings are cool or cold.
Emphasize loose clothing and breathing designed to quickly evacuate perspiration and anti-UV treated for sun protection. Avoid shorts, unfriendly Muslim populations.
The evening should opt for warm clothing: tights, socks, hats, fleece or down jacket.
